The Democratic election worker at this polling site in the heart of Democratic territory told Howie Hawkins he had come to the wrong place to vote.
No, Hawkins insisted, "this is where I always vote."
After a small amount of confusion, the Republican worker realized her colleague was looking at a list that only included registered Democrats. Hawkins, the mayoral candidate, is a Green. After the master list was consulted, Hawkins was allowed to vote. He then pulled the lever – for himself.
