Polls put incumbent Mayor Matt Driscoll and republican challenger Joanie Mahoney in a dead heat leading up to tomorrow's vote. Meanwhile, with polls showing support growing for Green party candidate Howie Hawkins, he says he is wrapping up his campaign encouraged that his run for office will make a difference.
Hawkins rejects any claim that he is simply serving the role of 'spoiler' in a very close contest.
"I say, what do you really want? Do you want what I'm standing for? Vote for that, and then whoever is elected will have to deal with that if I get a strong vote. That's my message today. Vote your hopes, not your fears. Vote for what you want and even if I don't get elected, we'll get a lot of votes and whoever is elected will have to deal with that platform," said Hawkins.
A Zogby poll for the Syracuse Post-Standard gives Hawkins support from close to 8 percent of likely voters.
