Syracuse - The final televised debate between the three 25th Congressional District candidates will be broadcast live on WSYR-TV (Channel 9) at 7 p.m. Thursday Oct. 30.

The 60-minute debate between Democrat Dan Maffei, Republican Dale Sweetland and Green Populist Howie Hawkins will be held at the Jewish Community Center, 5655 Thompson Road. The public can reserve a seat by contacting Judith Stander at 445-0161, ext. 114. The organizers are requesting spectators be seated by 6:30 p.m.

Reporter Mike McAndrew will have a story in The Post-Standard on Thursday about some of the best one-liners delivered by the three candidates during their prior debates and forums.

Thursday's debate is being sponsored by the Syracuse Jewish Federation, WSYR-TV, the Jewish Community Center, the Joint Social Action Committee of Congregation Beth Sholom-Chevra Shas, the Alliance of Communities Transforming Syracuse, Jewish Advocacy of CNY and Temple Adath Yeshurun's Social Action Committee.

Sweetland and Hawkins have agreed to participate in a later debate, at 7 p.m. Nov. 3 at Onondaga Community College's Storer Auditorium, in Ferrante Hall, 4585 West Seneca Turnpike, but Maffei is skipping that one. That debate will be broadcast on WSYR-AM.
